Awarded as Best Singer at the Salzburg Mozarteum Sommerakademie Competition 2010, Laia Falcón has performed as soloist in music venues as the "Toscanini Hall" at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Mozarteum’s Grosser Saal of Salzburg Festspiele, Le Grand Foyer at Palais Garnier de Paris, Biennale di Venezia, DeSingel Antwerpen, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Sao Carlos de Lisboa, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid or Teatro Maestranza de Sevilla, together with conductors, stage directors, performers and composers such as Mikael Eliassen, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Ralf Gothoni, Wolfram Christ, David Hermann, Titus Engel, Ros Marbá, Salvador Brotons, Juan J. Olives, Fabián Panisello or David del Puerto.

In 2017 she has performed at Teatro Real de Madrid the leading role “Lady of the dream” in the world première of La ciudad de las mentiras, by composer Elena Mendoza, one of the last projects commissioned by Gerard Mortier. In 2013 she performed the soloist part in the world première of “Al crepito del sole” by Adriano Guarnieri at the Biennale di Venezia. In May 2010 she performed the leading role of Carmen in the world premièreof Carmen Replay, a production of Teatro Real de Madrid commissioned to the National Prize of Composition winner David del Puerto. After that production, Ms. Falcón was chosen by the composer for the leading role in the world première of his new opera Vacaguaré in 2013, commanded by the Ópera de Tenerife Festival and Giancarlo Del Monaco.

In 2015 Laia Falcón appears as Desdemona in the operatic film Otello 1887, produced by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and included in the retrospective exhibition dedicated to the artist at Centre Pompidou de Paris. 

Her participation as soloists in several CDs includes pieces from Baroque and Classic repertoire with composers like Pergolesi and Haydn under the direction of Hansjörg Schellenberger. She also plunges into contemporary pieces like in the first recording of Carmen replay by David del Puerto (ALCH estudio) or Canciones de Sílvia by Fabian Panisello (Columna Música 2017).

After obtaining a Master of Piano at the Conservatorio Superior in Salamanca, Ms. Falcón studied singing with Tom Krause, and completed her training enjoyed the advices of some important performers such as Mikael Eliasen, Barbara Bonney, Helen Donath, Edith Mathis, Reri Grist, Norman Shetler, Jeff Cohen or Ralf Gothóni.

Ms. Falcón holds a PhD in Art Sociology(Université Paris-Sorbonne) and a PhD in AudiovisualCommunication (Universidad Complutense, Madrid). Since 2006, she teaches Scenic Music, Character Creation and Cinematographic Direction at Universidad Complutense in Madrid.

In 2014 Laia Falcón came to light her book “The Opera. Voice, Emotion and Character” printed by Alianza Editorial, one of the most important publishing houses in Spanish language.
